An oven explosion forced a large commercial bakery in Aurora, CO, to halt production May 2.
Two people suffered injuries in the incident, one ended up taken to the hospital and one treated at the scene. One hundred people were inside the building at the time of the explosion.
The Aurora Fire Department arrived on scene at 4:25 a.m. to the warehouse on Tower Road in Aurora.
Challenges come with commercial ovens which have both electric and gas line connections.
“Continued gas leak which could be an explosion or fire at this time, we didn’t encounter this when we arrived on scene. Electrical could also cause an explosion when exposed to power lines. Both power and gas have been out here and shut the power down for the building,” said Tony Krenz of the Aurora Fire Department.
The business remained closed as of 6:30 a.m., and firefighters are working to determine the cause.
