Two workers suffered injuries during a fire at Sasol’s Lake Charles East plant in Westlake, LA, Monday morning, company officials said.
The plant’s emergency response team was able to put out the fire at the plant’s alcohol unit.
Two minor injuries were reported in the incident where officials said the workers were given first aid and returned back to work. Sasol said there was no offsite damage and the incident was reported to proper authorities.
An investigation is being conducting in to what caused the fire.
Sasol’s Lake Charles Complex focuses on the production of products used in cleaning and personal care applications. The site also manufactures specialty chemicals, according to the company’s website. A new world-scale ethane cracker reached operation at the Lake Charles complex this August.
