A Louisiana man who was part of a contracting crew at the Plainfield Renewable Energy plant was killed early Sunday morning in an industrial accident in Plainfield, CT, officials said.
Police, firefighters and ambulance workers got the call at 4:09 a.m. Sunday to the wood-burning power plant at 12 Millbrook Road, police said.
A contracting crew was attempting to replace an expansion joint when part of the pulley system let go, causing the joint to fall and pinning under it a worker identified as Justin Scott, 39, of Ponchatoula, LA, police said.
Scott was removed from under the equipment and taken to Plainfield Backus Emergency Care Center, police said, where he was pronounced dead at 5:04 a.m.
The federal and state Occupational Safety Health Administrations are investigating the incident.
