A contractor working for Turner Industries Group died following a workplace incident Monday at the Citgo refinery in Sulphur, LA.
The Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office said the employee was transported to a local hospital after the incident where the worker later died.
Mark Courville, 56, of Vinton, died in the incident, said Dr. Terry Welke who identified the worker. Officials are still actively investigating the incident and did not comment on the circumstances surrounding the accident. The cause of death is being ruled as an accident.
Turner Vice President and General Counsel, John H. Fenner said in a statement:
“Turner Industries Group, LLC confirms that on March 9, 2020, an employee was fatally injured at the Citgo facility in Sulphur, LA. Turner is coordinating with OSHA and facility management in investigating the incident. Turner asks for thoughts and prayers for its employee and his family at this difficult time.”
