After fire damaged air cleaning equipment this past winter, odors coming from the 3D IdaPro dehydration plant in Stanfield, OR, are making local residents ill.

Leland Winebarger a local resident and business owner said the smells are so bad that it made him physically ill Wednesday.

Another resident, Kathy Baker, says the plant’s fumes smell like “dead flesh.”

After receiving complaints, the state Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) contacted 3D IdaPro about its plant when it received 17 complaints in one day.

DEQ representatives said the company immediately responded by saying a mechanism it uses to suppress the smell was damaged in a winter fire.

Department spokesman Greg Svelund said the company is working on fixing the mechanism, but there is no specific date set where the company has to repair its air cleaning device.
