Honeywell garnered the exida Embedded Device Safety Award for their product, ControlEdge PLC.
The exida Cyber Awards honors exida-certified products and processes that best demonstrate new and innovative work in the realm of industrial cybersecurity, which improves the application of IEC 61508 or IEC 62443.
The Honeywell ControlEdge PLC, a safety PLC from the ControlEdge family of controllers has the capability to dramatically reduce configuration, integration, and support costs while decreasing risk with embedded cyber security.
Combined with Experion PKS, it minimizes downtime through unified support, and lowers total cost of ownership through extended system lifecycle. The latest release provides the ultimate engineering flexibility with more I/O options for system design, connectivity to more devices, the most protocols for native connectivity, and support for lean project execution.
The ControlEdge Safety PLC was chosen as the winner in the Embedded Device category due to problem-solving capabilities while demonstrating security and resilience.
“The ControlEdge PLC has security built into it by design and is one of the first products in the world to be certified to security level 2,” said Mike Medoff, senior safety engineer for exida, “Honeywell has been a leader in developing and maintaining secure products compliant with the IEC 62443 series of standards for security of industrial automation and control systems.”
