Firefighters responded Monday night to a large fire at a fertilizer plant in Hancock County, Illinois.

Crews are on the scene of that large fire just west of Carthage south of the F.S. Fertilizer plant, south of Highway 136, said Sheriff Scott Bentzinger.

He said at least one structure has been destroyed and LP tanks are on fire.

Officials were looking for everyone to avoid that area because of the danger of burning LP tanks and the risk of explosion, Sheriff Bentzinger said.
