After an intake pump failure, almost 11,000 gallons of raw sewage bypassed into the south fork of the Coquille River in Powers, OR, Sunday, officials said.

The incident took place at mile 28 between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Public Works Department officials said the sewage bypass was due to an intake pump failure.

They said there is no way to filter the sewage out now.
