A 72-year-old worker was pronounced dead at Liberty Casting Co. in Delaware, OH, Friday after an industrial accident, officials said.
The man was helping move a large piece of equipment and got between it and a solid, wall-like structure, Delaware Police Capt. Adam Moore said.
The man’s identity had not yet been released Friday evening, pending notification of next of kin.
Police and medics were called to the company, at 550 Liberty Road, shortly before 9 a.m.
Moore said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and is believed to have been crushed by the piece of equipment.
There is nothing to indicate the incident is anything more than a tragic accident, Moore said.
The Delaware County coroner’s office and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident, with assistance from Delaware police.
Liberty Casting is a jobbing foundry specializing in Gray, Ductile and High Alloy Iron Casting, according to the company web site. It employs 100 people.
