A new version of the SILAlarm tool for facilitating and documenting alarm rationalization results just released, said exida officials.
This new release defines user-specific fields for documenting auxiliary information about the basis of an alarm (e.g. process safety information). It also automatically configures DeltaV Alarm Help faceplates from the results of rationalization.
Other features include enhanced auditing and enforcement to facilitate review, analysis and disposition for each change to alarm configuration and powerful, customizable filters to improve the productivity of the rationalization team.
“SILAlarm reduces overall engineering time and the time it takes to perform alarm rationalization making the process more viable for plants with limited resources,” said Todd Stauffer, director of alarm management at functional and process safety provider, exida. “Now every plant can realize the benefits of rationalization including reducing operator alarm load, eliminating nuisance alarms, and creating alarm response procedures.”
Meanwhile, exida named the winners of its 2014 Safety Awards. The winners were in three categories: Sensor, Logic Solver and Interface Module.
The following companies/products are this year’s winners:
• Emerson Process Management’s Rosemount 3051S Advanced Diagnostics Pressure Transmitter (Sensor)
• General Electric’s Mark VIeS Safety Management System (Logic Solver)
• Moore Industries-International, Inc.’s SSX/SST Safety Series Isolator and Splitter (Interface Module)
