No one suffered an injury in a dust explosion in an Elk Mound, WI, feed processing facility Thursday.
Fire crews from Elk Mound, Colfax and Menomonie responded to the scene of a dust explosion Thursday night.
The incident occurred at Synergy Cooperative on State Highway 40 outside of Elk Mound, WI.
An official with Synergy Cooperative said the explosion happened in a fertilizer leg pipe.
There were no injuries reported in the incident. The business was shut down for a few hours while the situation was investigated and controlled.
Synergy Cooperative became effective October 1, 2017. The name Synergy comes from the merger of three Northwest Wisconsin cooperatives, Cedar Country Cooperative of Elk Mound, Lakeland Cooperative of Ridgeland, and United Ag Cooperative of Almena. Agronomy, grain, feed, refined fuels, and propane are ht main products produced by Synergy Cooperative, according to the company’s website.
An investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.
