SpiderControl released new software to mitigate an improper privilege management vulnerability in its SCADA Web Server, according to a report with ICS-CERT.
A software management platform, SCADA Web Server Version 2.02.0007 and prior suffer from the vulnerability.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability, discovered by Karn Ganeshen, could allow authenticated system users to escalate their privileges under certain conditions.
No known public exploits specifically target this vulnerability. This vulnerability is not remotely exploitable, however, an attacker with low skill level could leverage the vulnerability.
Authenticated, non-administrative local users are able to alter service executables with escalated privileges which could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code under the context of the current system services.
