A property owner struck an oil well with a vehicle, which caused a spill and shut down a road in Belmont, WV, in Pleasants County Thursday.
The road reopened the next day, officials said.
The spill has been contained, and Henry Camp Road re-opened around 3 a.m. Friday, according to a spokesman for the West Virginia Division of Highways (DoH).
It’s unclear how much oil spilled, the spokesman said.
The DoH spokesman said the spill occurred after the property owner struck the well with a vehicle causing the spill.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection will be investigating, and the DoH spokesman said the road will need to be closed again to allow repairs to be completed.
